Jimi
Johnson is a second generation showman who grew up on his familys show in Chicago.
After a successful run with a large carnival game operation, Jimis father, Bob
Johnson decided to form his own carnival and in 1967 he did just that. By the 1970s,
the Johnsons had one of the most successful carnivals in the Chicago-land area.
By the age of 15, Jimi had become the concession manager. This was a big responsibility,
especially for someone so young, but Jimi proved himself and handled the job with
professionalism. When he turned 20, the young entrepreneur decided to branch out and form
his own company. This was the beginning of 1st Class Shows.
Phyllisha Choate Johnson is a third generation showman who also grew up on her
familys carnival. Phyllishas grandfather, Robert Kid Burns Choate,
began his career as a showman wrestling in athletic (AT) shows in the 1930s. He
later decide to buy a few carnival rides and Star Amusements was born. Phyllishas
father, Mokey, still operates Star Amusements today.
Jimi and Phyllisha met in 1997 and found very quickly that they make a great team! Today,
they combine their life long experiences to provide the absolute best in family
entertainment to over 45 events per year throughout the Midwest. |
